VSCO is a social media app that I dont think is exclusive to age because it doesnt allow you to edit yourself. It doesnt encourage you to hide blemishes and wrinkles, just changes the filter on your photo.
I picked facebook groups as another platform that is accepting to age just because it allows you to make groups with anyone, it is a way to connect without the need for pictures or edits.
I chose gmail as a way to include all ages as well because it allows anyone to chat, this is a way to communicate without the social posting aspects. It allows us to talk and connect without the requirement of photos.
I chose this image because it’s an app that edits photos by removing wrinkles, it encourages people to hide their wrinkles and blemishes, making the “ideal” image a younger person.
I chose this image for the same reason of the last picture, this app takes your picture and completely edits your face untill you look young, also encouraging those to hide those parts of themselves.
This app is the opposite as the last two, its an app that puts wrinkles and blemishes on your face. I thought this was exclusive of all ages because its almost mocking those with wrinkles, as its aiming to make people laugh.
Immediately when thinking of creating your own avatar, I thought of the videogame fortnite. In this game, you get to make and design your own avatar that you play through the game with. Fortnite makes all their avatars look exotic, creative and almost always extremely skinny. It allows the user to alter their image, race, age, weight and more. On top of all of those, It also makes you extremely strong and powerful. 20 years ago I don’t think this would be encouraged or popular because the ideal image has shifted, this strong and skinny image may not be the same. On top of this, the method of creating an “online image” would most likely not be through a video game. 20 years ago, I believe that this concept might be feared because you can totally change your image in all aspects.
