In this project, we will go through the topic of future techs, costs, and benefits in which it will help to improve the community. This project is revising how important techs can aid people in the community. Is it better with supporting techs? As I mentioned in the previous journal 7, the community is the place where I was born and raised. The community is packed with people that are trying to make their livings such as street merchants, boat drivers, students, etc. People in the community are trying to live their lives however we all did not realize how the place that we used should be taken care of. Almost a thousand people use and pass through the community each and every day. This is just an assumption of how big the population is growing and utilizing the community. Thailand is known to be the number of 8th most traffic country in the world. (Mainly in Bangkok however Nonthaburi where the community is the city in the urban area.) This is the big problem that the community is affected by heavy traffic every day. The supporting tech that in my opinion will fit and help this situation is something that would help to generate the best data that can solve live time traffic. The solution would be the tech and AI that would create a better solution to this problem. In my opinion, the supporting tech that will help generate the best way for people to have lesser traffic is something that the community has to look into.

An adaptive traffic signal is the main goal that will lead to better traffic flow. How this system is working? This is called “Adaptive Signal Control Technology”. This is already been using by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). These are the result of how it would help.

  • Continuously distribute green light time equitably for all traffic movements
  • Improve travel time reliability by progressively moving vehicles through green lights
  • Reduce congestion by creating a smoother flow
  • Prolong the effectiveness of traffic signal timing

By tracking the real-time data from all the traffics, these results can combine together and provide the best result from AI to generate the best way to reduce the traffic in that area. However, it is still dangerous to let the AI completely control the traffic for us. In my opinion, I like how this tech might be able to solve one of the biggest problems in my hometown. This is an issue for people who live around or traveling through. Some of them have to spend more than 2 hours or more in the car because of the heavy traffic. Real-time management of traffic systems is proven to work, yet these systems have been deployed on less than 1 percent of existing traffic signals. FHWA is now working to bring these technologies to the rest of the country. For frustrated travelers, the optimal balance of red light/green light is on the way.

Tech Impact

The adaptive traffic signal mostly functions with artificial intelligence. It is almost impossible to control the traffic system in one country without using the supporting tech. However, using AI could benefit us to consider a better way for traffic to flow smoothly. This also will help the traffic controller to have lesser work rather than have to control everything. The AI will help consider the flow of the traffic where people in the community will save more of their time to do some other activities. Spending 2 hours in the car is not something worthed to be considered. People can do more things useful in their lives.

It is also to consider safe the world by reducing carbon dioxide that releases from the car while the engine turning on. This is because people would have lesser time to be in the car. Carbon dioxide is more than 15% provided from the car around the world. Not only having a better environment and clean air for people in the community but also reduce the fuel and gasoline that we extract from nature. Each day the resource will deplete out and we will not realize. This will help not only the community but if it will work in the country or the world.

Decision


People in the community should be decided on this supporting tech however the working part should be done by the community traffic department. It is important to listen to each voice of people in the community. To observe what their opinions are on the project. Obviously, a wide vision and greater technology might cost more but if it could improve the community, this will be more efficient for everyone. Reduce time-consuming on the road, reduce carbon dioxide, make a clean environment, make use of gasoline that we have extracted from nature.

Conclusion


In conclusion, it is important to understand how tech could be useful in each part of the area or may enhance the community. We should be careful about how each design and tech could result. It is everyone’s hands that can improve the community and enjoy what we are doing for the community.
