The permaculture principle I chose for this task was use small and slow solutions. I chose this because I thought a lot of problems in the world today are solved with instant solutions rather than slow solutions causing greater problems later on. I think this value is very important in nature and in every day life. Humans tend to want to solve things instantly rather than waiting for the best solution in the long run. I think that this relates to technology as well because we create technology to solve problems rather than trying to solve them naturally. We could be more humane in nature by taking a step back and understanding when and why we can use technology and new research to solve problems and when it could potentially be harmful in the long run. I think designers could remember this principle better by looking at things in different perspectives which also ties into another important permaculture principle on the list.
I do not have indesign or photoshop so I drew my logo by hand. My logo shows the beginning stage of a plant growing. I chose this idea to represent my principle because plants start slow and there’s no way you can speed up the process of a plant growing without external chemicals or sources. I think the external chemicals and sources represent the technology we use today to solve problems when in reality they would solve themselves naturally.
*Update* Purchased Indesign and am now re learning on how to use it so I could create better designs for Task 1 & Task 2.
