I ended up choosing the 6th principle of permaculture, “Produce No Waste”.
I decided I wanted to do a mock logo of a hypothetical used clothing or ‘pay-per-pound’ thrift or consignment shop. The theory with the ‘pay-per-pound’ being is it takes a large portion of employee labor away, allowing consumers to search laboriously on their own for lower prices. (If you thrift you know this is where it’s at because you only find the grails under unturned stones)
Less energy going into the production, sales, and marketing of clothing while the model also seeks to re-use already worn pieces. One of my personal favorite hobbies is thrifting and upcycling random clothing and used clothing; however, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to wear certain brands, styles, and items.
I ended up making my logo look like a beat up and used tire with a automotive and industrial “DOT” color scheme, relating pay-per-pound or a consignment clothing shop to a salvage yard. “2nd Hand Salvage” you come through and search for what you want and at the end we weigh it out and charge you just like the junkyard, but for clothes.
