In class, students learned about the 12 principles of permaculture designed by David Holmgren, who based these principles on his observations in nature. After students educated themselves on this concept, they were to pick one principle to create and design a logo that helps convey the meaning of the chosen principle. As for me, I have chosen the second principle, catch and store energy. I selected this principle because energy usually represents greenhouse gas emissions from human activities. When designing my logo based on this principle, I wanted to express something that would help the environment rather than negatively impact it. I decided to create a design representing a nuclear power plant because nuclear power is a zero-emission clean energy source that generates power through fission. Fission would help reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses and protect the environment. Nuclear energy protects the environment mainly due to the amount of waste it produces. One year of waste from a nuclear power plant can be placed under a desk. (One year of waste from a nuclear power plant can be placed under a single desk.)
