Produce No Waste
This logo concept was based off the sixth permaculture principal: produce no waste. I chose this principal because I am involved in environmental science. In the summer my occupation requires scuba diving. The main responsibility I have is to extract invasive species from the bottom of a lake and prevent it from growing back. This has allowed my brain to exercise the fact that if we don’t make a change now, our Earth is going to deteriorate. Rather than trying to stress about the larger issues, it is important for those not in occupations like environmental science to start small. For me, that starts in the form of waste. There is way to much plastic and non-recyclable materials that are being manufactured. A lot of millennials believe that if they use plastic and existential waste that it wont harm the Earth. However, if every millennial thinks that way, it will create harm in the form of a bigger picture. In relation to nature, this means more conservation of all natural resources, and less discharge going into the land, water and air. Producing no waste can provide the idea that new tech can be created from natural materials. It will create new jobs and not only assist the economy but nature as well. By producing no waste and designing more humane tech, our world will be safer and more sustainable altogether. Designers who are trying to adapt their lives with the twelve permaculture principals can remember this concept with the short phrase “produce no waste” or “harmful waste can’t be erased”.
The logo I created depicts a reusable grocery bag. This logo is more geared towards plastic waste, however waste be can viewed in multiple different ways. I would argue that reusable bags are considered humane tech but also double by producing less plastic waste.
