My political meme gives a controversial take on the overturning of Roe v Wade. My meme suggests people in Alabama are committing incest, and due to the overturning of Roe v Wade, and the ban of abortions in Alabama, they won’t be able to abort the incest fetus. This insinuates that in 10 years there will be a mass amount of incest children. Although this is a controversial take I feel as though something as significant as the overturning of Roe v Wade deserves a controversial response. The reason I chose to create a meme specifically on this topic was due to the fact that I as a woman feel that I deserve the right to choose what I do with my own body, and frankly it’s just unjust to take that away. I thought disappointing out one of the negative effects, and even making it comedic could shed light, and even gain people’s interest or attention resulting in more people doing research and educating themselves on the topic of Roe v Wade. This man will probably make a lot of people angry, but also make a lot of people laugh. Depending on someone’s political opinion it could change their view of this meaning completely. This would cause people for the overturning of Roe v Wade to be upset and angry and offended, whereas the people who disagree with the overturning of Roe v Wade Would find this funny.
It is the nature of human behavior to share bad news more readily than good news, so bad news will always spread faster than good news. Generally, people prefer sharing bad things over good things, as well as promoting bad things and sharing them with others. It’s for this reason that Offensive political memes go viral so quickly. People need to promote more positive internet information themselves if they want to uplift it. With today’s algorithms, you get what you put out, and by tracking everyone’s likes, comments, and interests, there’s obviously a higher probability that negative stuff will be shared more.
