After reading some of the articles that were provided for task 2, there were some that definitely related to me. One negative effect of technology that I found resonated with me, would be the fact that technology has an impact with my sleeping patterns. In the article it mentions that blue light has an impact on a person’s sleep cycle. It makes it harder for someone to fall asleep, if they come into contact with blue lights which are a technical flaw of cellphones. I relate to this, because I own a smartphone that I consistently use throughout the day. Specifically, I use my Iphone at night which fuels my insomnia. Reading this article was interesting, because I didn’t realize that blue lights caused such a disruption in a person’s sleep cycle. I just assumed that I wasn’t able to fall asleep, because my mind was stimulated with the amount of text messages, tik toks, and YouTube videos that I binge watch before bed.
A design that I thought of to resolve this issue has already been created. I would say that it would be smart to design something to shield out the blue light rays like anti blue light glasses. A feature that I know of on the iPhone would be the nighttime mode for the phone. It turns the iPhone screen more yellow in order to block out the harmful blue rays. For the sake of this task, I have another idea that seems to be a bit unrealistic. Another design that would be effective, would be an electric case for the iPhone that automatically turns on at a certain time. For example, I could program the case to automatically turn on at 9PM. If I touch the case, then it will shock me which will cause pain– steering me away from touching/using my phone. As the featured image, I have provided an image.
