Watching Social Delema and reading “The negative effects of tech ” article helped me realize that our phones deprive us of sleep because our activity and wants are ever increasing. Lying in bed looking at screen wastes the valuable time of proper rest your body and brain needs to function properly, and social media makes us forget these basic values of health by controlling our train of thought. That’s why I designed a bed detector alarm notification that can be set by the user for the time span they want to sleep. After a specified time, the alarm pops up on the screen and shortly after the Wi-Fi and data connection is shutoff until the morning alarm. It’s a start to a complicated solution as we all get notifications we don’t take seriously or prioritize as much as others, but with no media access and the reminder of sleep can benefit the decision to help people sleep with no other option. Now there can definitely be loopholes into this with the time schedule or not even enabling it as an alarm. I look at it as setting boundaries willingly, rebuilding the willpower to do and not do something for the benefit of restoring a balanced way of living. Media will always be growing and with that we need to spread the importance of acknowledging how and why we do certain things for the benefits of progressing ourselves all around. Incorporate new ideas and things, and understand the purpose for it.
