Task 2- Morgann Critchett

There needs to be more access to blue light protection in people that have glasses already. As someone who wears glasses for corrected vision, my glasses don’t have blue light lens because they cost so much extra on top of original prices. I have lucked out that I have contact lenses and I can wear blue light glasses but I know many that don’t have the small luxury.

My sister is a teacher who is often staring at her computer for extended periods of time and it’s given her headaches many times before. When she puts on her glasses she tends to feel that the light makes her eyes and headaches worsen. This past year we learned that it would’ve cost $170 out of pocket for her to get blue light lenses in her normal glasses and not everyone has that money.

I propose that blue light lenses become more accessible and incorporated more into glasses than make it a luxury out of reach for the people that need it. Not only does this protect against computer and tablet screens but it can also protect the eye from LED lights and even sunlight especially with the rising popularity of LED among teenagers.
