GEOADVENTURE
INNOVATIVE DESIGN
GeoAdventure is an application for your phone that will use your location data to suggest places for the user to check out within their local area. While its main intention would be to use this in locations that are largely unknown to the user, it also could be used as a tool to check out local businesses/spaces that could be overshadowed by larger/popular establishments. My idea for this stems from the fact that there are a lot of unknown local businesses or sightseeing places that most people are unaware of. There is a local restaurant in my town of Winslow called the Proper Pig, and if my family hadn’t looked hard for new restaurants to try often, we probably would’ve never been. I feel that an application that takes in location data and presents you with information about various businesses or local spaces is a great idea.
UPGRADED CRITERIA
GeoAdventure would help people get out of a the cycle of normalcy in everyday life. Humans are used to repetition but overtime, our brain needs new stimulation. Also, this sort of thing supports your local businesses and gets people outside more which is great for the local area, and for your mental health. Users of the app can also leave reviews on various locations for others who also use the app.
SUPPORTIVE CONTEXT
I think people who travel a lot will support an app like this. I also believe if local businesses catch onto the idea as well, that they will support it too. I would hope that this application would be used enough to get more people outside and exploring. Helping people connect with their local community more as well as nature.
WEIGH COSTS
GeoAdventure would be free to use for everyone. I would also make it a point that no company could pay to have their business to be promoted over others, as I believe this goes against the core premise of the product. This sort of thing would be extremely helpful for some small business’s and could help generate revenue for a relatively free cost as most people nowadays have smartphones.
