1- Innovative design—Describe your new design, app, service, product, etc.
For my design, I chose to design an app that falls under Group Dynamics as it benefits the community are larger groups and individuals. Additionally, my design is an app that promotes volunteer opportunities based on location; these jobs could include city cleanups, environmental projects; some jobs that could fall under these categories would be trash pickup, trail maintenance, etc.
2- Upgraded criteria—state your criteria and why you picked it. Why is it important to you & your community?
My concept of this app is to enable individuals to connect safely and authentically with others while also benefitting their communities and those in need. The criteria of this idea would have an app layout that would allow users to select a nearby location, and opportunities would appear, some of which would strictly be volunteer options and some with a set wage line. The overall expectation would be that those in need would have the opportunity to make a small income while also helping those around them.
3- Supportive context—describe the context or world/community that will support this.
I think that this concept could benefit many communities; I presume if the app had an easily accessible layout and was user-friendly, most societies would support the program. Something that allows people to succeed is undoubtedly intriguing to people. In addition to this, people enjoy the feeling they get when they feel wanted or needed; therefore, this app is helping the surrounding and beauty of things and possible mental health to some.
4- Weight Costs—Evaluate expected costs—materials. Labor, etc.–this is not a number or monetary figure, but rather a description of the expected costs to the environment, people, etc.
When anticipating materials and cost factors, maybe jobs could be provided with most materials individuals already own, such as shovels, rakes, etc. As far as contemplating the world cost on the environment, this app would say that I believe it has a relatively balanced outcome. Although the design is based on a technology form that may have adverse effects, the concept itself gives back to the world’s surroundings and people bits at a time, allowing us to give back to the society that provides us with the needed supplies.
As a designer, I believe it is essential to reconsider possible downsides to our designs to find ways to address and fix them.
Downsides
(Q1)Availability to those without electronics?
Possible fixes
(Q1 A) Advertising with posters of a meeting place for possibilities of people showing up?
