An idea I have for is an app called Snapcloset. The main idea is you can take a photo of an item from your closet and see how others have styled that same exact piece as well as seeing suggested items that are commonly worn with that piece of clothing. Inside Snapcloset, I want there to be a feature that aids in cleaning out clothes in a way that is sustainable for others and the planet. So if you have an old t-shirt that you want to get rid of, select that shirt on the app and when you chose to delete, the app will give you a list of places that you can donate clothing too. The app can also give you ways to recycle your clothing like making a blanket out of t-shirts or using clothing items in art.
So why is this idea worth it? It not only helps people with their day to day life but it encourages everyone to think sustainability among clothing. One of the biggest problems when it comes to sustainable living, fast fashion and the clothing industry is one of the biggest issues. While this app doesn’t stop the production it helps people be more sustainable themselves.
As much as this would help so many people and shelters but sustainable, I’m well aware people will always continue to throw their clothing away. This also doesn’t stop the company that produce fast fashion clothes as well. The main idea behind this is that sustainable practices begin to incorporate into the typical families lives.
The suspected costs will all be based on the cost to code, maintain, and generate ideas for the app and its future development. In order for an app like this to run, it’ll need a great team of developers behind it.
