INNOVATIVE DESIGN 

– describe your new design, app, service, product, etc.

Being a new mom is hard. Not that I am talking through my own experience, but everyone kind of knows that. There are so many changes through a very small amount of time, from physical ones (body change) to mental ones (very common postpartum depression). 

So I came up with the idea of having an app that would support and encourage new moms. 

The app would only be for moms who are expecting, who just gave birth or who have kids under 5 years. It would be a safe place to ask questions or just with other ones to have some type of belonging. It would also have daily affirmations that would pop up on the display to remind moms that they are already doing a great job. To make sure they are not spending too much time on it instead of taking care of their little ones, there would be a reminder if they spent more than 5 mins and it would pop up every other 5 mins.

UPGRADED CRITERIA

This design meets a few criterias, but the big ones are emotional and group dynamics. 

Emotional is taking into account how the new moms are feeling physically and emotionally. 

It is important to try to make them feel better or at least help them when they need it.

Group dynamics makes sure that everyone has some type of feeling of belonging. In this case, making sure new moms know they are not alone in it.

SUPPORTIVE CONTEXT

-describe context or world/community that will support this

In the perfect world, all of the moms would have enough time to raise their children without needing to go back to work to make money. Unfortunately the world is not perfect and there is so much pressure from society. 

I hope this app would have support from everyone, but especially from significant other of the moms. 

WEIGH COSTS

-evaluate expected costs—materials. labor, etc–this is not a number or monetary figure, but rather a description of the expected costs to the environment, people etc.

The main cost would be to develop the app and maintain it after. It shouldn’t have any other cost and to prevent any unexpected ones the app would be anonymous and always double checking if you really want to post something or answer like that.
