When thinking about the cultural effects of fake news, memes, propaganda, etc., we see how surrounded these topics are. For instance, when addressing the memes, we often see the term “dark humor” this saying is often slapped in front of a meme that will come off as offensive,  discriminatory, etc. I feel that creators of the memes usually try to justify their indecent memes by using this saying as they think if they recognize that it’s wrong, it’s okay.

When searching for memes, I found many examples of this, some of which personally found no comical aspect but instead just strictly rude, hurtful, and overall just hateful behavior. Unfortunately, this was found so much that I have endless examples of memes that relate to fake news or propaganda and very few that are just humorous or in any way beneficial.
