I always keep melatonin on my nightstand, next to my phone charger. I usually am on my phone right up until I decide to go to bed. More often than not, this has caused me to stay up later than I should’ve. I always wake up early, so sleeping in to compensate for the lost time isn’t an option. A possible solution to lack of sleep due to blue light is to have a timer that automatically switches phone screens into nightshift as the sunsets in their timezone; the nightshift feature on iPhones is easier on the eyes as the display switches to only warmer colors. A few hours following the night shift, a timer will lock users out of the social media apps on their phones. Allowing only texts, calls, or email applications to be used and for those notifications to come through, up until the morning. The timing for this would have to be individualized, as everyone has different schedules, but setting up these features would help ease users into sleep.
