One of the issues with technology is is insomnia. This is something I have experienced personally with insomnia caused by technology. The combo of the light keeping you up, as well as the addictive nature of technology is a truly detrimental combo. According to the Insider article, a lack of sleep caused by technology can lead to a significant chronic sleep deficiency. In some cases it can reduce the quality of sleep according to the Medical News Today article. This is a problem I consider pretty serious because I myself fall victim to it.
A good way to prevent this is to have the device not accept a charge for a certain amount of time. Therefore, in that time, if the device dies it can’t be restarted and hopefully the user will attempt to sleep. If we give the user the option then odds are they will remove any restrictions since the devices are addictive. That’s why I think this would be a good idea since it takes control away from the user during times when device usage aren’t necessary or critical to the user’s daily life. I know that his would help me greatly, and my sleep would likely greatly improve.
