This is the picture I chose for my damaging meme. Covid 19 has and still is playing such a huge role in our lives. In a time of death by viral disease, you would think that as a country we would attempt to come together as one. Instead, our country found nearly every way possible to acknowledge our differences, and use them against each other.  This meme talks about the vaccine that was created to help prevent or lessen the effects of covid for individuals. This vaccine was the next progressive step in returning to a normal life. The covid 19 vaccines have turned into humor, into politics, and less about health. This meme is destructive because by making jokes about covid and posting them to the public is how fake news is distributed. Memes like these are turning science into a joke. That being said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, though, when jokes are made about a serious matter and posted to the public, it increases the spread of false news and helps to create a separation between humans as a whole. During this pandemic, it was super difficult for people to understand the legitimacy of it. As someone who has had covid and severely suffered from it and knows those who have passed away from it, I am offended by those who think it is funny to talk about how it’s not a serious disease, and that the vaccine is a joke.

For the meme I created, I chose to take part of the meme and cutout the information that was used incorrectly being that it was inaccurate. This being said, even though this information is accurate, the meme is now less humorous and less engaging. Lots of people enjoy memes that are inaccurate for the sake of finding humor in awkward/invalid things. Which is exactly why they are so popular and gain too much attention. Memes have become apart of political strategies because of the effect is has on people when posted and reposted on social media.
