- Donald Trump on Social Media
- Donald Trump tendencies on social emdia seems as an effort to subvert above all. Statiscally, it seems that donald trump will post contriversal retoric whenever there is a new bombshell involving him online. His reaction to this is to push a fake new story in order to draw attention away form the important news.
- Reddit and The God Emperor of the Internet
- This article talked about how there was a Reddit page made named The_Donald which made a post calling others centipedes and that Trump is the future. There are many different people who frequent the page and it has gained popularity, it ended up becoming almost like Trump’s own campaign. It turned into a place that Trump supporters could speak freely but have gotten easily out of hand. It got even more attention when Trump himself would tweet and share posts from the Reddit page. This can be an example to show how effective the internet can be and how widely inclusive the internet can be, this Reddit post can appeal to younger generations through memes and older generations through deliberations. it also makes it easier to share these kinds of posts on other social media to influence and share one’s opinion towards the election.
- Silicon Execs Raising Their Kids Tech Free
- Silicon Valley parents have started to raise their children in an environment that discourages technology. These families believe that it will develop short attention spans, impact psychological and social development on top of an addiction to technology. An interesting point the author made was they compared tobacco companies to Google, explaining how both products spend up to billions of dollars a year to market their products hoping that it will interest children. They wrote that the difference is that Google thinks of themselves as “good guys”.
Another point I found interesting was that the CEO of apple doesn’t allow his nephew to join social networking yet, he claims that apple products aren’t meant for constant use. The former CEO of Microsoft implemented a cap on screen time when he noticed his daughter had an unhealthy addiction to a video game. One last point I found funny was that one family limits their phone time to just about none when the kids go to bed the parents watch an episode of the show “Black Mirror” for some morbid reassurance on why limited screen time is a good idea.

- Our Minds Can be Hacked
- In the article, Our Minds Can Be Hijacked’: The Tech Insiders Who Fear a Smartphone Dystopia by Paul Lewis, discuses different interviews from multiple Silicon Valley big shots. Within each interview, these people have either designed a major part of a major company or they have done lots of research about a specific topic within the Silicons Valley. Each one of the interviewees said that although they don’t regret what they did because it was a major aspect of the platform, they understand how it messes with the younger generation. Justin Rosenstein, who invented the like button on Facebook, expressed his fear of his generation, the last generation that will ever know of a time before the iPads and iPhones and actual phones connected to walls. His fear is that when the generation after him comes to the tech world, it will get worse because they don’t know what it’s like before tech was even invited.
