Title: Who Are You?
Purpose: I think people often come up with assumptions of people based off of their profession and/or position. The idea of this project would be a piece to a larger group of projects that show a bunch of different people who do different things for a living. I want to challenge the viewer in the way that they see people. I want to humanize my subject in a way that reminds the viewer that the person is a person before their prejudices come into play by not revealing the person’s profession till the end. I would start off by showing the person’s passions/hobbies. I think the whole project is to challenge people to shift perspective and see through a different lens.
Narrative and Format:
I will use a video format. I have taken photos of my subject and also recorded audio of them narrating as well. I will use video to reveal the photos as my subject narrates through the course of the video. I will also lay subtle music over as well. The narrative I am telling is a man’s passions, desires, feelings, etc. and then revealing what he does for a living, and how these things might affect the way that he goes about his job. I think the main point is to humanize an individual and show someone’s general desire to do good.
Example: Politics – Sure, there are probably some terrible people out there who are trying to do bad. However, for the most part, people believe what they do because it’s the way they see the best fit way to do good. I think people often lose site of this and assume the worst in certain people simply because they don’t see eye-to-eye.
