PREMISE
On a seven day road trip across country, the struggle to keep the Serrano plant alive was crucial so it could be painted in California.
EVENTS
-We are given a Serrano pepper to save from the cold weather of New Jersey to prosper in California.
-The pepper makes it to Ohio with us, being that the weather is colder at night, we take it into the hotel so that it will survive the night.
-After Ohio we take off to the Missouri and spend the night into the hotel and got some good southern food.
-After spending the night in Missouri, we take the Serrano pepper camping in Palo Euro Canyon.
-Even though it was cold out, as long as it didn’t get under 32 degrees the pant was good to go so we continued our journey to White Sands New Mexico where it got a bit dry but survived.
-From Santa Fe we kicked it to Flagstaff Arizona where temperatures dropped big time ad we experienced some ice and snow so they traveling time took longer then expected.
-After sleeping in Flagstaff we went to meet our friends in Utah, and toured around Zion National Park.
-That night we camped in the Mohave Desert and the Plant came into the tent as well to protect it from any theirs.
-From there we traveled about 5 hours to our final destination and the Serrano Pepper was embraced by the California Sun.
SEVEN STEPS
For the seven steps below, describe how you will address each of the following in your story. Do not take the easy cliché route, but investigate what is unusual or original on your story, and try to flesh it out. Look for the subtleties, mystery, or surprises. Link each of your story events to one of the steps, and explain how it represents each of the key steps of the story structure.
1. Desire–The plant needs to be saved by a Warner climate.
2. Weakness and need–In order for the plant to survive and prosper, it needs a healthier, warmer living situation.
3. Opponent–Weather was the largest opponent.
4. Plan–The story will structure a 7 day road trip from New Jersey to Santa Barbra California
5. Battle-Keeping this plant alive till it gets to California was the biggest obstacle.
6. Self-revelation–After some near death temperatures, the plant holds on to the little strength it has and makes it to California stronger then ever.
7. New equilibrium–Now that the plant is in a warmer and nurturing environment, the plant is turning more green and prospering making peppers.
