Task 6- David Jakacky

Candlelight: Within this set, I really wanted to capture the movement of fire in a really simplistic and elegant way. My favorite shutter speed is definitely the high shutter speed because of how still the flames look. The medium shutter speed is more like what we see as humans so it is not as interesting to me. The low shutter speed resulted in the flames being blown out but quite spread out because of the rapid movement of the flame.

Campus Life: This set I really wanted to show how you can get a very interesting photo out of scene that isn’t inherently that interesting and how to use your surroundings. My favorite shutter is the vertical slow shutter shot most definitely. The high shutter and medium shutter are just not interesting and the cars distract and disrupt the overall scene. But by using the cars to my advantage, and setting a very long shutter speed, once they drive through my shot, I will only see the lights they leave behind which makes a really cool effect.

Flow: These shots show how your shutter speed can completely change the whole feeling of your photo. My favorite shutter is yet again the long shutter. I love how smooth the water came out and how it has monochrome ribbons throughout it. The high shutter is quite fascinating as well with the droplets being frozen in mid air and how sharp the water looks. The med shutter I don’t find too appealing because I just think it looks to chaotic.

Weekend Hike: These were just photos I took messing around with long exposure at a hike back home that I went on with my family. Figured I’d throw them in too.
