I am currently in my final semester at the University of Maine pursuing a degree in New Media with a minor in Marketing. Through my experiences both in and out of the classroom, I have found a passion for graphic design and social media marketing. In a digital world, this combination along with other skills learned along the way including but not limited to web design, film editing, animation, and composition. Using the skills described above I was able to put my passion to work ou
tside of the classroom designing graphics and apparel for some of the greek life and other organizations on campus. Although this opportunity didn’t include a monetary incentive it allowed me to practice my passion and put it out there for the campus to see. It may be a little bias but my most favorite projects are the ones for my own fraternity Theta Chi, this work is not only something I love to do but it is personal to me.
One of the things that I’m more proud of in my college experience is helping to grow the club lacrosse program to where it is today. When I first started at the University of Maine there was not much to the program if you could even call it that, we would only meet once a week on the rubber court at the New Balance Recreation Center to scri
mmage. Fast forward to now, being in an inaugural season in the New England Division II conference of the NCLL. The road to the point in the program today has been long, with most seasons only consisting of one to two games due to not being in a league before. The process of building the program to its current state helped me learn a lot about problem-solving and time management through balancing playing and going to class.
Outside of school is where I was really able to grow my other skills as this past summer I did website design, 3D modeling, and renderings for a sub development in process called Mallard Lane. Here I was able to use my HTML and CSS skills to develop a stunning website that allows customers to tour the development virtually through the rendering of the modeled development. This project was extremely fun and taught me new things about 3D modeling and how to render those models. Overall I would love to continue to do projects like the ones I have done throughout my college experience, although the Mallard Lane project was exciting I believe that my true skills and passion lie within graphic design and social media marketing.
