Proposal Idea: Isolation: A Photo Journal
For this project, I want to use different mediums of documentation to generate a collage or a digital mural consisting of varying “day-in-the-life” views of being isolated with a state-wide lockdown in light of COVID-19 currently in place. These variations of media would include journal entries, drawings, sketches, doodles, as well as photos and perhaps even videos. The subjects that I would like to capture are myself, self-portraits that are candid-style portraits as well as photos of my roommates, including my dog, Ziggy. Scenes would include settings from morning routines all the way to nightly routines, including cooking meals, brushing teeth, things that may seem fairly trivial to be put into a creative mural. The gist that I’d like to portray is a journalistic view of how this lockdown is affecting everyday people, how we as a community have taken advantage of things and routines and parts of our routines that we’ve felt to be trivial and take no mind to doing, such as going outside for group hikes, going to class, going to work, physically being in the presence of another community member. This mural will contrast that concept by showing my in-house routines and how this is affecting my own household.
