What is happening at the beginning of the story?
Gibby steals nuts, doesn’t give others the opportunity to collect for the coming winter. He has no family to provide for and takes away food from others who do.
INCITING EVENT
What event upsets the situation and introduces the main conflict?
Massive hurricane comes to New England for the first time in Gibby’s life. His tree falls and he loses his home and his collection of nuts for the winter.
CONFLICT
How do the characters react the inciting event?
Because of Gibby’s selfish and rude attitude, the others are hesitant to help him recover and restock from the storm.

Gibby’s bad attitude when others offer help.

Premise
What is this story’s core?
Theme:
Gibby the squirrel has a rude awakening when a hurricane hits his tree and he loses his tree and his collection of nuts right before winter – after ruining relationships with his community, they have to make the decision whether or not to help the fiend.

Theme: Community members have to put aside their past to help a member in need. Forgiveness, community, trust.
