This might be a little too much information, I tried to keep it simple but I’ve been playing with this idea since freshman year hence all the sketches. I want to critique childhood trauma and give a more proper representation for adoptees. A lot of adoptees in the media are these hero protagonists and I wanna play with a darker more grounded form of it. I also personally have a love for hip hop and sampling. If you don’t know sampling is a practice in hip hop where part of an old song is taken and used in a new song typical as a hook, beat or melody but they can be thrown in for anything. I think it would be a fun story element to have a song play in a flashback and tie it back with a song that samples it along with covers like Whitney Huston’s amazing cover of “I Will Always Love You”. I just think that music is a great way to set a setting in visual storytelling that at times is underutilized. I want this story to be one of mayhem, music and a muscle the size of your fist; in other words “Keep on loving, keep on fighting And hold on, and hold on, Hold on for your life”
