STORY EVENTS
Kristina- As Kristina the main character is with her group of friends and Oliver (her best guy friend) receives hers and it reads “your soulmate is closer than you think”.
Kristina’s initial thought is that it is someone who she goes to school with, maybe she knows him, maybe she doesn’t.
Kristina goes home and has dinner at her apartment and spends the night ponding who it could be.
The next day Kristina goes to class and hears that a few people have already matched and figured out who their soulmate is.
Kristina becomes almost instantly overwhelmed with pressure and she consults her friend Oliver about it.
Oliver acts weird when he is with her, not the way he normally acts. He’s nervous.
Oliver also received his hint yesterday and read something that he thought hinted to Kristina
Later that night Oliver goes over to Kristina’s house and explains that she is his soulmate.
Kristina is confused and unsure if this is true, she has an inner thought that disagrees.
The next day Kristina has a hard day at college, as some girls make fun of her.
As she sits down to eat lunch she becomes sad and angry about the way she feels about herself.
Oliver comes over to sit and pushes his way into Kristina’s inner thoughts. Kristina pushes him away and slumps over.
Kristina goes home early from school that day back to her apartment and cries for hours.
She has a moment where she looks at herself in the mirror and doesn’t know what to do.
She gets a group call from her friends, some of them have found their soulmates and are with them on the group call. She realizes she must find her soulmate.
Kristina gets another hint.
Oliver asked her if she wants to go to the gym the next day and with everything in her head telling her no, she says yes.
She goes to the gym with Ollie, they work out and she feels a lot better about herself…until he tries to kiss her.
Kristina runs home and sits alone with her thoughts for hours. (visualize thoughts)
She starts to work through these thoughts but still has little faith in herself.
Kristina stays home from school for a few days and endures a long series of challenges to overcome, like finding a way to look at herself in the mirror without not liking what she sees.
She puts on makeup and goes out on her own. She has lunch with herself and tries some of her old hobbies she has forgotten about.
Kristina gets another hint.
A few other activities take place.
She checks her phone and has 13 missed calls from ollie.
At this point, all of her friends have found their soulmates and she is just about the last one.
The pressure is on, as much as Kristina likes Ollie, she knows he is just her friend and has an inkling that it’s someone else.
Kristina goes over to Ollie’s house and breaks the news that she isn’t his soulmate.
He asks who it is and she said she hasn’t figured it out yet, but they are close.
That night Kristina has a dream where she looks into the mirror and a hint pops above her head saying she’s close.
The next day Kristina completes a few activities with full confidence and returns home feeling good about herself.
This is the point where she realizes she loves herself.
A few more end plot activities take place and result in showing how Kristina found herself. (something on this baseline).
1. WEAKNESS & NEED
Psychological and Moral Self-Revelation
Moral- She realizes she must respect herself in order to love herself let alone others. She realized she must change, because, without it, she would not only be hurting herself but she would push others away that loved her (like ollie).
Psychological- Kristina finds a new life and way to live when she finds herself. Kristina realizes that she can’t treat herself the way she has always treated herself. If she wants to be happy she must actively change her lifestyle.
Psychological and Moral Weakness and Need
Kristina’s psychological weakness is that she doesn’t love herself.
She doesn’t like her hair.
She hates her body.
She doesn’t like her daily activities or lifestyle.
She doesn’t like her personality because she feels like she doesn’t have one.
Kristina’s moral weakness is that she pushes others away when they try to help her.
Kristina for a while didn’t listen to her friends.
Kristina never puts effort into her relationships/ she never reaches out.
Problem
At the beginning of the story, Kristina doesn’t know who her soulmate is when everyone else does. She doesn’t accept not only herself but her life. She thinks there is something or someone better.
2. DESIRE
Kristina wants to find her soulmate. She wants to fall in love with someone, not only because everyone around her does but because she doesn’t know how it feels.
3. OPPONENT
Kristina is Kristina’s biggest opponent.
Oliver is another opponent. / he wants to fall in love and find his soulmate just as much (if not more) than Kristina does. His “superpower” is that he is Kristina’s closest guy friend, and she trusts him.
Kristina’s friends are also her opponents at times.
4. PLAN
- Think about her first hint and write down a list of people it could be.
- Talk to her friends about who they got as soulmates
- Let Ollie tell her what he thinks but keeps her thoughts to herself
- Have a grace period- this is where Kristina needs to breakdown
- Stay home and think- spend the whole day picking apart what she doesn’t like about herself
- Go try extra activities to “actively change”
- Get another hint
- Tell Ollie she isn’t his soulmate
- Take herself to lunch
- Put on makeup-look at herself in the mirror
- Try old hobbies etc.. stuff to find herself again
- dream above her last hint
- Love herself
5. BATTLE
The critical conflict is whether or not Kristina will actively try to change and learn to love herself.
6. SELF -REVELATION
Kristina realizes that beauty is on the inside and that she must love herself for who she is before she can love others.
7. NEW EQUILIBRIUM
Kristina changes her everyday lifestyle by trying new things, going to the gym every day, taking a break from trying to find love with other people. She dresses cute every day, switches her major, reaches out to her friends, and schedules launch dates with them. She focuses on school and work and herself. It becomes overall a new lifestyle and grinds. She learns to be happy with herself in everyday activities.
