Task 5 – JacobH

Designing Principle
Blood is thicker than water. (Family is more important than a love interest)

Moral Choice
Killing the man she fell in love with to save her family that she loves more.

Moral Problem
Deciding between her own family and a man she just met and fell in love with.

Characters as Variations on a Theme
Fond (main character) squeezes as much time as she can before she makes her final decision. She fights with her inner self and pushes aside love to save her family, but the fact she even had to think about the decision is truly crazy.

Bastien (Boss / Opponent) knows that Fond would in the end protect her family and therefore kill Pierre for him. I mean, her family’s protection is the whole reason she’s an agent anyways.

Values in Conflict
Fond – Empathetic, Emotional, Easily-Swayed

Bastien – Intelligent, Strict, Devious

MORAL ARGUMENT

Hero’s Beliefs and Values
Although an agent that kills people, she is the power of heart and emotion, therefore her emotions can get in her way, especially in the scenario she’s in.

Moral Weakness
Controlling her emotions.

Moral Need
Sometimes you have to let go of the things you love for things you love more.

First Immoral Action
She doesn’t kill Pierre for her boss and therefore begins a conflict with her work and soon her family.

Desire
To protect the people she truly loves.

Drive
Figuring out how she can save both her family and Pierre, making many tough decisions, ending up killing Pierre when she realizes she can’t.

Immoral Actions 2
Having to even decide whether she should kill Pierre or have her family be murdered is a lot, when really you would think someone’s instinct would be to save their family. She justifies this with her “power” and how it was out of her control until she fought it off.

Attack by Ally
If I understand this correctly, the main ally would be Pierre, and his subtle attack would be to fall in love with Fond, even though it wasn’t intentional.

Obsessive Drive
When she breaks down and contemplates killing her boss (a. way too unrealistic idea) so that she can just live happy in both world.

Battle
Final battle is a ball dance where Fond begins to slowly break as she knows she hast o kill Pierre, and we see her emotions crumble as she goes with Bastien’s threat by protecting her family and killing her love after all.

Final Action Against Opponent
She kills Pierre, satisfying Bastien who ends up rewarding her afterwards.

Moral Self-Revelation
Sometimes love can’t be, and blood is thicker than water and family over all.

Moral Decision
Yes, she decides to kill Pierre rather than losing her family.

Thematic Revelation
The ball dance is super symbolic as it’s no words just dances and emotions, and how in the end we see her through it all make the hard decision to finally kill Pierre to save her family, but see the battle she had doing it.
