Designing Principle
In order for the team to succeed all must sacrifice something.
Theme Line Techniques
To learn anything new you must first learn from the past so you can let it go.
Moral Choice
Alakai: He needs to decide to leave the group behind to get the ship, hoping that he will make it back in time to get everyone or stay and try to fight Kitsune along side his teammates.
Diyo: He needs to decide if he trusts his teammates enough to put his life in their hands.
Jo: She needs to speak up so save Katia. ( She does not) She then gets another opportunity to speak up when the team is lost and help them escape. (this works to get the team out of the whole in the ground)
Katia: She needs to decide whether she should sacrifice herself in order to safe the rest of the group.
Tobias: He needs to trust that his teammates know what they are doing and he needs to choose whether he stays at his post or if he puts the rest of the team in danger because he doesn’t believe they can do it.
Moral Problem
The moral problem all the heroes will confront is whether in order for them to survive they need to sacrifice themselves along the way.
Characters as Variations on a Theme
Alakai: As much as he knows he is needed its hard to truly believe it until he is slapped in the face with the truth that he is needed and always was.
Diyo: Diyo never knows when he can truly trust anyone. If and or when he finally decides to he is living in constant fear that they will prove that they cannot be trusted. Diyo needs to work towards a sense of peace that he desires.
Jo: Jo has so much to say. Her lack of confidence cripples her and if she doesn’t learn to voice her ideas the whole team is at risk. She needs to learn how to sacrifice her fear of being wrong and take a risk to help those around her.
Katia: She hates confrontation and now is faced with the decision to face something head on and sacrifice herself to save those she cares about.
Tobias: He needs to sacrifice his ego and let it go or else he could end up getting everyone killed in the process.
Kitsune: Kitsune is sick of being lonely and just wants new things to play with. Until he realizes what he must sacrifice to win the game he is currently playing and it might just be too high of a price.
Values in Conflict
Alakai: Friendship, honesty, memories and his freedom
Diyo: His life, those he trusts, his mother’s happiness and his freedom
Jo: Her ideas, personal space, friendship and her freedom
Katia: Her family, friends, heart and her freedom
Tobias: His appearance (outwardly), intelligence, his new friends and his freedom
Kitsune: His time, games and his freedom
MORAL ARGUMENT
Hero’s Beliefs and Values
Alakai: Friendship, honesty, memories and his freedom. He believes in those around him.
Diyo: His life, those he trusts, his mother’s happiness and his freedom. He believes in himself.
Jo: Her ideas, personal space, friendship and her freedom. She believes in her ability to make the right decision, just not necessarily to execute it.
Katia: Her family, friends, heart and her freedom. She believes in her ability to do what’s right even if it risks her life in the process.
Tobias: His appearance (outwardly), intelligence, his new friends and his freedom. He believes in himself.
Moral Weakness
Alakai: He puts others before himself
Diyo: He can’t trust anyone
Jo: She never knows when to speak up
Katia: She will always risk herself before putting anyone else in danger
Tobias: He only looks out for himself
Moral Need
Alakai: He needs to learn how to take care of himself in order to help others
Diyo: He needs to learn how to trust others
Jo: She needs to learn that her voice has power
Katia: She needs to know that she doesn’t have to pretend to be happy all the time
Tobias: He needs to learn how to understand when he’s done something wrong
First Immoral Action
Alakai: He puts his team at risk because he did not take care of himself. (He feel asleep during his duty because he was up all night helping everyone else with their duties)
Diyo: Because he didn’t trust one of his teammates someone he cared about ended up falling and hurting themselves. (He did not trust that the bridge was safe and waited too long and one of his teammates fell through the bridge)
Jo: Because she didn’t tell everyone her idea on how to get Katia out of Kitsune’s grasp because she was scared she was wrong Katia ended up getting killed.
Katia: By trying to be heroic she ended up putting her team at risk. She tried to save an animal she found, but ended up hurting Jo because the animal got loose and hurt someone.
Tobias: By trying to everything himself he ended up messing up a circuit board which caught on fire burning Diyo’s hand.

Drive
They all have the same drive to get out of the alternate world they are stuck in.
Attack by Ally
When Alakai sleeps during his duty shift Tobias yells at him telling him that in order for us to live we all need to be the best in our area of expertise. Alakai defends himself by saying that he was helping everyone else and that he was just over tired and that it will not happen again.
Obsessive Drive
Tobias gets to a point where he will do anything to beat Kitsune’s game and ends up sacrificing another teammates life to win his game.
Immoral Actions 3
Criticism: By sacrificing another teammate he has also sacrificed his own place on the team.
Justification: He believed at the time that that was his only option.
Battle
By showing that each “Hero” has changed and learned how to be a better version of themselves they over power Kitsune’s need to leave. While both opponent and hero have the need to have their freedom the heroes are able to prove that they are more worthy of that freedom.
Final Action Against Opponent
They finally act as a team using what they have learned along the way. Katia makes the largest sacrifice of all, her life. At the last moment Kitsune tells Katia that if she accepts the fate that one of her teammate laid out for her they would all be free. She agrees knowing that the teammates who stood by her side would be free even if the one that sacrificed her was going to be free with them. She deiced that their lives were worth more than her hatred for one.
Moral Self-Revelation
Katia deiced that her teammates lives were worth more than her hatred for one. She learned that hatred should never win. Tobias has learned that Katia deiced to save him even after everything he had done. He learns that forgiveness is more powerful than hatred.
Moral Decision
Katia has to decide between the lives of her friends and teammates or her own life.
Thematic Revelation
Even if you have hatred in our heart for someone you can never let that hatred hurt those around you who did not deserve it.
