1. WEAKNESS & NEED
Psychological and Moral Self-Revelation & Psychological and Moral Weakness and Need
The psychological and self-revelation that comes with my main character, Poppy’s, development has to do with the moving forward of the investigation. Through wanting to charge her assaulter she thought she was seeking justice for her assault (this also shows what her needs are), however by the end of the story she realizes that she was also trying to be an example of empowerment for other victims of sexual assault. Self-revelation come even later when she finds out that she has been dead throughout this whole investigation, this plays into the psychological damage that comes with being sexually and physically assaulted.
Problem
The main character’s weakness is that she wants to become a new person, she wants to be well liked and enjoy the social aspect of being in a new environment, being in college. The problem then comes from morally corrupt people who have gained social credibility within this new environment. Conflicting understandings and telling of an accused event.
2. DESIRE
Poppy’s has two goals, she wants to become a new version of herself, and flourish as herself. Poppy also wants to seek justice for herself regarding sexual assault given the terrible ways in which college institutions actually handle these cases.
3. OPPONENT
The opponent, Isaac Dunn, first of all has the opposite desire as Poppy. He wants to keep his reputation stagnant and also remain judiciously innocent. Isaac’s frat and other frats on campus also then act as an opponent because they attempt to argue against the rape culture Greek life has on campus, and also use that point to back up Isaac in the investigation.
4. PLAN
After the incident in the beginning of the story, Poppy’s plan revolves around the investigation. She goes to the hospital and gets a rape test completed and then goes to the campus police and title XI office to report the incident and continue the investigation. She then plans on creating campus wide protests in order to get Greek life shut down and support other victims of sexual assault the support they actually need and deserve.
5. BATTLE
The critical battle is the results of the investigation and the results of the campus’s reaction to the protest in conjunction with the event in tow.
6. SELF -REVELATION
The self-revelation is a little dearie, I’m not going to lie, but I think it’s more of a lesson for readers/viewers to understand the realities of sexual assault on college campuses. The revelation it that Poppy was actually murdered, she and her friends find this out through self-investigation, but the actual investigators come up inconclusive and Isaac is found innocent and greek life remains in possibly a worse way than before.
7. NEW EQUILIBRIUM
I don’t think the story I am creating has an equilibrium, I think the ending is devastating and I think that might make some of the audience upset, but I kind want that to be the point. The ending is as devastating as what a reality would look like (with a spooky twist of course).
