Premise

Three best friends rented a boat for some memories out on their favorite lake one warm summer day. All is well until it’s not, when the crew fails to expect the unexpected…

Seven Steps of Structure:

  1. Weakness/Need: A woman needs to clear her head by going on a walk by herself.
  2. Desire: A quick dip in the lake to cool off on a summer day.
  3. Opponent: The creature lurking underwater…
  4. Plan: To either swim back to the boat or swim to land, and other options offered along the way (readers choices).
  5. Battle: Choosing to litter or not, choosing to help friends or not, choosing to swim to land or not (readers choices).
  6. Self-revelation: The consequences after each choice, life or death is happening
  7. New Equilibrium: Surviving while also helping his friends.

First Passage

You and your two best friends rented a charter to go out to a private lake for your birthday. It’s a beautiful day; the water is flat, the sun is bright, and the air is warm. You can’t wait to jump in, but no one has eaten yet, and the hunger is setting in. Do you:

[[Throw some burgers and dogs on the grille and eat up, ->1.1]] or,
[[suck it up and jump in, it won’t be summer forever!->1.2]]
