The movie I’ve decided to write about is called “The Devil all the time”. The initial release of this movie was on September 11th 2020 and was directed by Antonio Campos. But this movie’s origin is from the book “The Devil all the time”, the authors name is the American writer Donald ray Pollock and the book was published on July 12, 2011. I personally haven’t read the book but 94% of readers seem to really enjoy the contents of the book. After watching the film I’m very interested in reading this book to see any similarities or differences from the movie.

The reason why I chose to talk about this film is because it shows how a very kind and happy young man who wouldn’t ever harm anyone can turn into dark and cold hearted killer. The scene I’m about the show is the main character converting from good to evil when he kills the man who raped and killed his younger sister.

This story is about a young man named Arvin Eugene who grew up in Coal Creek, West Virginia. His father fought in WW2 and his mother passed away which drove his father crazy. His father later committed suicide so Arvin had to live with his grandparents. As Arvin grows up he becomes more of an outsider along with his sister, he’s a kind young man while only wanting to protect his family. A preacher then comes to the town and starts spreading his wisdom and words and no one suspects anything. Arvin’s sister falls in love with the preacher but the preacher ends up raping and killing her. Arvin soon realizes how dark and cruel the world is and becomes devoted to protecting his loved ones. He must face off against corruption and sinister characters in a postwar backwoods town.
