Task 2 – Nhan C.

Write about a special item used to keep track of time.

“[…] a pocket watch with its hand made from a magical dragon scale.”

How it works:

The dragon scale was extracted from the Prisoner of Time, one of the Great Guardians. When placed on a flat surface, the scale points towards the direction where the flow of time is the strongest. Our ancestors discovered that it took the scale sixteen (16) displacements before returning to its original position. Hence, the day is sixteen hours long.

About the Prisoner of Time:

Legends say that the Prisoner of Time is one of the Great Guardians – apprentices of the Core Four. Driven mad by the greed for power over the people it was supposed to protect, the Prisoner of Time attempted to overthrow Time itself. They say that Time was able to predict his student’s intention, imprisoned Flauros, and scattered its scales to the people.

Though this is the version of the tale common folks usually tell one another, there are many variations of the legends.

About the scale:

All of the Great Guardians’ power comes from resonation between their scales with the Core Four‘s flow of magic. Since the Prisoner of Time was originally Time‘s apprentice, its scales react strongly to the flow of time.
