The Hike

It was a sunny summer day, in West Hartford Connecticut, when Frank received a text from Asaad, asking him to join him and Victor on a hiking adventure. Frank doesn’t like to be a part of any outdoor activities, he doesn’t have a specific reason. But for some reason on this day he decided that he will join his friends, after Asaad finally convinces him to go. His friends guaranteed him that we would enjoy it, and if he didn’t they wouldn’t bother him by asking him again.

They met at the bottom of the hill and began walking up the trail to the top of the hill. As Asaad and Victor led Frank up the hill, Frank began soaking in the scenery. He looked around at all the tall trees, and the green from the leaves illuminated by the sun looked beautiful. Different birds flew from tree to tree, and the different chirps from the birds made a beautiful sound that Frank has never heard from a group of birds before.

As they reached the top the sky began to open up, and the view at the top was breathtaking. The calm breeze moved the branches down below moved side to side in a synchronized manner. Asaad and Victor couldn’t help but laugh, as they saw Frank’s reaction to the breath taking view. Frank couldn’t help it as he grinned from ear to ear. They sat down to take a small break, and they all began to drink water so they are hydrated before the hike back down the trail.

Asaad and Victor suggested that they take a different trail back down the hill, and Frank agreed to it.

As they made their way back down, they made jokes, and sang together. In the distance Victor who was at the front of the line noticed an animal up ahead. They all stopped and as the animal slowly walked forward they realized that it was a bear. They slowly changed directions so they don’t frighten the bear, when suddenly the bear charges at them. They all began to run down the hill, as they jumped over fallen trees, and boulders. While running down they encountered a pile of branches, Victor cleared the pile and Asaad followed. As Frank got closer to the pile of branches, he jumps a second too late, he trips and falls down to the ground. He screams in pain, and turns around to see that the bear is approaching him. His two friends heard his cry for help, they turned around to help him up. Once helped up he was able to get over his pain, and he followed his friends until they safely escaped the bear.

They were all out of breath, and suddenly Frank begins to laugh hysterically. Victor and Asaad looked at each other with confusion because that wasn’t the reaction they expected from Frank. Frank then said “That was the craziest thing ever, we should go hiking sometime again.” They all laughed together, and made jokes about what just took place as they walked back to their cars. Frank has since gone hiking again with his friends, he just made sure he told them that they should stick to the same trail, to avoid any encounters with bears.
