Our attempt was to create a satirical “mockumentary” of a guy, Jeremy, who is placed in an unfamiliar environment. Basing the script off of known stereotypes with New Yorkers and the state of Maine, Cullen sought after scenes and environments where Jeremy’s true identity could show as he describes the differences of both states. Cullen and Jeremy discussed with each other what should be conveyed in short time, balancing his own idea of the stereotype with how outsiders, like ourselves, saw it.

Stylistic choice: The last thing we wanted was to make this feel uptight and serious. We wanted to add a humanistic element to the documenting, interviewing, and filming style. This can be seen with the handheld footage, the quick and sporadic movement, zoom, and focusing. This style can be seen in shows such as “The Office” or “Modern Family.” It provides a more realistic and non-cinematic feel.

Gear used:

Panasonic Lumix GH5 with 12-35mm f/2.8 lens.

Sennheiser AVX Wireless Lavalier Mic.

Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Mic.

Zoom H6 Field Recorder.

(2) 1200 Watt lamps with soft boxes for lighting.

Software:

Adobe Premiere Pro.

[20
12
post-1776","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-stories","tag-story","aesop-entry-content
["GET
