(1). How does player choice affect story form? Mystery? Choices? “Dead ends”? Consequences for choices?

The story form stays somewhat similar for the different routes, aside from the endings. It mainly impacts how the player receives important details about the story. Overall, things stay relatively similar between story routes aside from the endings, which will differ quite a bit.

(2). How do you sustain player interest throughout?

By providing frequent choices for players and color changes to background and text color to reflect the mood and time of day of the passage.

(3). How do you build tension, or plot development through many paths?

By finding a balance between withholding information and providing hints throughout the story.

(4). How can you show character development?  This could be through choice in a protagonist (made by player), or by having player be main character who makes choice with consequences.

The character development is probably strongest in the routes with bad endings, where the protagonist realizes how their optimism and seeing the good in everything has also blinded them to danger and the fact that not everything is good in the world.

(5). What does player learn? How is the world a little bit new after experiencing the story?  ie in Beneath Floes you may have a better sense of Inuit legends, and their survival purpose.

The importance of showing love to beings that have not experienced it before is an important message in my story. The do has a dark past, but thanks to the caring nature of the protagonist, they see beyond that and help the dog live a better life. Any choice the player makes during the battle that doesn’t save the dog will have severe consequences.

(6). Can you bring media–images, drawings, formatting, sounds etc to make your story media rich?

I am currently working on incorporating other elements. I’ve successfully added my own audio to a few passages and I might add more. I’ve added a few images from pexels, but I’m not sure it will be a huge element in the story as a whole. Formatting of the text and page color is an important element of my story for creating mood. For example
