1. Define Premise, using your own words
Premise is a very short summary, typically around one sentence, of a story that usually includes the main character/protagonist, the story’s end goal, and how the protagonist goes about to reach the story’s end goal.
2. Craft a premise for a story you’d like to create this semester. To do this, answer the following (you may want to copy this list into your post and then answer each point.
1) Premise:
Junior discovers parts of his past were lies and sets forth to learn what the truth is, while also following in his father’s footsteps and becoming the new leader.
2) Possibilities:
- Junior’s ideals get challenged when he learns the truth.
- There’s conflict between Junior and the remaining Fooshies on how to become a leader.
- Junior becomes furious when he learns that part of his life has been a lie.
- Junior becomes tunnel focused on learning the truth.
- The Fooshies go on a journey to look for clues.
- An outside source provides new knowledge that the Fooshies weren’t aware of
- One of the older Fooshies guides Junior in becoming the new leader.
- Junior has to prove to everyone and himself that he can be the new leader.
3) Story Challenges and Problems:
- Junior develops trust issues and doesn’t know who to trust.
- Junior doesn’t want to be the leader.
- Junior trusts the wrong people.
- The Fooshies run out of leads.
- The Fooshies can’t handle the truth.
- Junior finds out he’s been lied to.
- The other Fooshies don’t believe Junior is ready to be leader.
- Junior puts others in harms way due to his actions.
- Junior gets betrayed.
4) Designing Principle:
Have a character chart his own course and discover who he really is to himself and not what others want him to be.
5) Best Character:
The best character would be Griffen Junior.
6) Conflict:
Junior fights for the truth and will fight those that stand to cover it.
7) Basic Action:
Junior finds the truth.
8) Character Change:
Junior figures out what really what happened by finding the truth, his weakness is that he was living a lie that therefore made him follow orders blindly which prevented him from acting the way he thought was right, the change is that now that Junior knows the truth he’s gonna correct his past Fooshies’ wrongs and lead them to a brighter future.
9) Moral Choice:
Junior rejects his father’s forgiveness for the protection of his people and vows to be better than his father.
