SEVEN STEPS

For the seven steps below,  describe how you will address each of the following in your story. Do not take the easy cliché route, but investigate what is unusual or original on your story, and try to flesh it out. Look for the subtleties, mystery, or surprises.  Link each of your story events to one of the steps, and explain how it represents each of the key steps of the story structure.

1. Weakness and need

Weakness- Junior is inexperienced, stubborn, and has trauma related to when the Fooshies fell

Need- Junior has to over come his own selfish needs and face his inner demons.

2. Desire – Junior wants to be a great leader just like his father.

3. Opponent – Keme, who is Junior’s ally, is the opponent. Keme wants to be with the Fooshies, but can’t due to his past with Griffen. If Junior becomes leader, then Keme loses his chance, so he tries to prevent that from happening. Keme doesn’t want to harm Junior, in fact he wants Junior to find the truth but he can’t just outright tell him. He’s kind of testing Junior to see where he lies and what his faith is. However, Keme will do what he must to ensure Junior doesn’t become the next leader. Also, I would say Griffen kind of plays into the opponent role too.

4. Plan – Junior will bring light to what truly happened on the day the Fooshies fell, and through this action he will gain everyone’s trust and prove he is fit to be the leader.

5. Battle – After learning the truth, Junior decides to fight Keme. However, he is horribly out matched and almost dies.

6. Self-revelation – Junior gets back on his feet to conquer his fears, realizes he can’t win this fight alone, and decides that he’s gonna be his own leader instead of trying to be someone he’s not.

7. New equilibrium – Junior, now knowing the full truth, becomes the new leader and vows to make amends where his father couldn’t.
