Each “episode” features a new character that gets lost in the desert. The story follows the character and the antics they find themselves getting into. For this example, an eyeball with wings [Terry] strays off course from his flock and gets lost in the desert. |

Background
|
Terry and his flock are flying, Terry is in the back of the “V” and is nodding off in the night. His eyelid is closing and he’s falling behind. Desperately, he tries to stay awake, but fails. He falls asleep, and unbeknownst by his flock, he plummets to the desert below from the night sky. | |

What does this character want?
|
Ultimately, Terry’s goal is to reunite with his flock that he strayed away from. Maybe instead, his goal is simply to get out of the desert. | |

ANTAGONIST
|
Name
|
During the night, beasts and lurking shadows haunt Terry. During the day, the antagonist is the desert, that seemingly goes on forever. The desert perhaps is sentient, and creates mirages that keep Terry moving. |

The setting is the antagonist, it’s where Terry is stuck. The desert won’t let him leave… | |

Background
|
The desert is alive. It lures creatures in and won’t let them out. Those that get stuck in the desert are doomed there forever. The desert feeds/ gains its power from lost critters. The critters that are lost eventually perish of course, and take the form of the lurking shadows Terry sees at night. | |

|
The desert wants living things, such as Terry, to get lost and die. That is how the desert sustains itself. | |

SITUATION
|
What is happening at the beginning of the story?
|
Terry is flying with his flock. A group of flying eyeballs form a “V” to trek across the desert, Terry is falling behind. The audience has a sense that they have been flying for a long time. |

INCITING EVENT
|
What event upsets the situation and introduces the main conflict?
|
Terry falls asleep, and crash lands into the desert below. He must reunite with his flock, but first survive the desert. |

CONFLICT
|
How do the characters react the inciting event?
|
Terry is very sad! The flying eyeball cries and is afraid of the dark and the noises that come from the unknown. |

What sustains the conflict?
|
The deserts desire to feed off of Terry, and Terry’s determination to leave and reunite with his family. | |

|
If Terry cannot escape, the desert consumes him. He must leave if he wants to survive. | |

|
Terry must regain his strength to be able to fly away. The desert makes this difficult by using mirages to influence Terry to continue exhausting himself. Terry must chose to stop listening to the desert, and focus on escaping. | |
