7 Elements of my Story

  1. Weakness and Need: Kelly is super straight edge and finds herself to nearly practice success and thrive in doing well. Always putting the weight of the world on her shoulders she fears of failure. One night she struggles to sleep and takes melatonin. When she wakes she realizes she is in a dream. She is given the task to fly a plane successfully. Being that this was out of her area of expertise she did as much research as she could but finds herself distraught and angry because she knows she cannot let anyone down. She needs advice from someone, and needs to understand that it’s ok for her not to complete this task given.
  2. Desire: Will lack of knowledge Kelly is set out to find the the right help and educe she can get to successfully fly a plane and escape this dream.
  3. Opponent: The opponent of Kelly is the dream itself. It puts her in a situation where she has to put her life and others on the line and think cortically to the best of her ability. She struggles to find that it is ok to fail and doesn’t want to let people down, the dream uses this to it’s advantage and doesn’t let her realize that it’s ok to fail until she does so.
  4. Plan: Kelly’s first plan is to find other pilots in the airport and have them teach her skills they know. They all think she is crazy and shouldn’t be flying a plane, but Kelly is very convincing and gets a bunch of pilots to teach her a crash course on how to operate a plane. She is set with this idea that she will learn and successfully complete the task that the dream is asking of her.
  5. Battle: In this story the battle is internal. Kelly struggles to realize that this operation she is being gifted is so out of proportion and difficult. She keeps battling with herself over th consequences over the actions she decides to make. Does she attempt to fly the plane full of passengers to the best of her knowdedge or does she accept defeat and see what is left in store.
  6. Self-Revelation: After talking to a peer at the airport she realizes that she must accept defeat and suffer the consequences. She doesn’t want to let people down but she knows deep down she can’t successfully fly a plane. So, as the plane finishes boarding she announces that she cannot operate the plane and apologizes.
  7. New Equilibrium: After apologizing to the people on the plane, they begin to clap for her and cheer her on. Kelly is super confused. She begins to wake up from her dream and ponder why people would cheer on her failure. She later realizes that she has succeed in the best way possible. Letting herself realize that she can’t do everything and that it is okay to fail.
