Dell and Marie Emerson’s lives have revolved around the blueberry industry. Dell is the farmer’s farmer, having worked at the University of Maine for 53 years on the only Wild Blueberry research farm in the U.S. Marie, a certified and award-winning chef, has taught in the Maine Community College System for 30 years.  Our farm, Wild Wescogus Berries (a Passamaquoddy name translated to “above the water”), is located in beautiful Downeast Maine, one of the last undeveloped areas on the U.S. East Coast. Our farm overlooks tidal Pleasant River, and Acadia National Park’s Cadillac Mountain serves as a pristine backdrop.

Matt Tinker “MooseMan” spends his workdays looking for animals. He paddles in canoes and walks trails through the woods, always watching out for wildlife. “I’ll be out with people on the lake, the water is like glass, an eagle flies overhead, and I’m like, ‘Welcome to my office,’” he says. Tinker, a Master Maine Guide, makes a living taking groups and individuals on moose watches, canoe adventures, and fishing and hunting trips. Matt is also a PSIA ski examiner working from Sugarloaf and up and down the east coast.
